Description
This Pompeii tour from Naples is a half-day trip: you ride in an air-conditioned bus to the ruins, enter through the priority line and spend two hours walking the ancient streets with a licensed archaeology expert. The transport and the ticket are already arranged, so your time goes to the site.
You can pick the format that suits you, a VIP, a small or a regular group. Before the visit, the bus stops at a traditional cameo workshop, where artisans carve shells by hand. It is also a chance to stretch your legs and use the restrooms.
Inside the site the guide leads you through villas, temples, thermal baths and markets, and into the Forum. You also see the plaster casts of the victims, a quiet and moving part of the visit.
- Round trip from Naples by bus
- Skip-the-line ticket and a two-hour guided tour
- Headsets for larger groups
- A cameo workshop demonstration
The terrain is uneven and has steps, so strollers are not recommended and the tour is not suited to people with mobility impairments. Because of closures or restrictions, Herculaneum or Oplontis may replace Pompeii.
