Description
This sunset cruise from Positano lasts an hour and a half aboard a traditional gozzo, with no more than 12 guests on board. The boat pulls away from the harbour of Positano and follows the Amalfi Coast as the light softens.
Your local skipper talks you through the area's history and traditions. You pass hidden coves and elegant villas that are best seen from the water, then Li Galli, the archipelago known as the Island of the Sirens, tied by Greek mythology to the Odyssey. The skipper also explains the Saracen watchtowers on the coast, built in the 15th and 16th centuries to watch for pirates, and how villagers passed warnings with smoke signals and bells. Another stop for the camera is the Fiordo di Furore, a fjord cut into the cliffs, with a bridge above and a secluded beach.
