Description
A Capri boat trip with grottos starts at the port of Marina Grande and follows the island's rugged shoreline at an easy pace. From the deck you watch the cliffs slide by while the skipper, who speaks English and Italian, fills in the history and the myths attached to each stretch of coast.
The route passes the Punta Carena lighthouse and the Bagni di Tiberio, close to a villa that once belonged to a Roman emperor. Then come the sea caves, the Grotta Bianca and the Grotta Verde, each named after the colour that the water and the sunlight give it, and the tall sea stacks of the Faraglioni.
You can choose a version that continues to the Blue Grotto. The entrance is a small opening, and inside a large cave opens up, lit by an intense blue that comes from the sun shining through the water. The Blue Grotto ticket is paid separately on site, and the version with a swimming stop does not include this visit. If the sea is too rough to enter, the outing is shorter.
- Circuit of Capri by boat, in a one-hour or a two-hour version
- English and Italian speaking crew, with help before boarding
- A map of the island, life jackets and toilets on board
There is no live guide on board, so the skipper's commentary is your main source of information. Bring sunscreen, a hat and a camera. The tour depends on good weather.
