Description
This Naples street food tour is built around one idea: you eat your way through the old centre while a local guide explains where each dish comes from. The walk begins in Piazza Bellini and takes in two principal streets of the old quarter, with the legends of the city told along the way.
The first tastings are fried pizza and the wallet-folded kind (pizza a portafoglio), then frittatine di pasta and arancini. In Piazza del Gesù the pace slows for taralli, babà and sfogliatelle, all of them classic Neapolitan sweets and snacks. Between bites you pass the church of Santa Chiara and the music conservatory named after San Pietro a Maiella.
A salumeria is the next stop, a small shop of local products, where fresh mozzarella is served with cheese, ham, salami and mortadella. Later the group enters a limoncello factory for a glass of the real thing, and the walk ends with a gelato. The tour also includes a spritz.
