Description
An Amalfi Coast day trip from Naples is a long day, about nine hours, built around three towns and one decision. The group rides in an air-conditioned minivan, and one tour leader stays with you all day, passing on local stories and tips between stops, and the day starts with a pickup at designated spots in Naples.
The first stop is Sorrento, where the leader walks you through the historic centre and its artisan streets before some free time and a limoncello tasting. From there the minivan takes a coastal road that bigger vehicles avoid, hugging the cliffs above the sea, and stops in the centre of Positano for colourful lanes, boutiques and a walk down to Spiaggia Grande.
In Amalfi you pick your version of the day. With the boat option you join a shared ride of about 45 minutes and see grottoes, villages and stretches of coast that the road hides. Without it you get extra time to wander the old centre, shop, have lunch or sit on the waterfront.
On the way back to Naples, a Neapolitan-style lottery on board gives one passenger a bottle of PGI limoncello. The tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.
